Top 10 Reasons to take an Alaskan Roadtrip

Top 10 Reasons to take an Alaskan Roadtrip 10. No Passport Needed  Alaska is an amazing choice for Americans wanting to stay inside the U.S. during the age of COVID.   If you’re anything like me, however, you still want the most BANG for your travel buck.   Alaska is hands down an incredible, picturesque, memory-making adventure that’s within your grasp without needing a passport.  9. Coffee If you’re not a coffee addict, skip this one.   (Or perhaps just replace it with cannabis.   Because that’s also readily -and legally- available here).   The two of us *are* addicted to espresso and we got a huge kick out of diverting our dollars from Starbucks to the little local coffee huts available every couple of miles. 8. Outdoor Activities Alaska is the outdoorsman’s heaven.   The options for nature overs are endless.   Since we were traveling with our littles we took it pretty tamely, but you could zip-line, paraglide, white-water raft, kayak, and fish, just to name a few. 7. Failure

Failure is not anyone's favorite part of the journey... but it's inevitably included in every story. I'm not going to tell you that I embrace failure.  In fact, I probably crumble harder in the face of failure than the average person.  As a Virgo *Insert Gen-Z hair tuck here*, I'm intensely aware of my own shortcomings.  The phrases "can I talk to you a moment" and "come see me in my office" fill my stomach with tangible dread.  I'm not even going to tell you that failing makes you stronger because, when faced with failure, banalities like that almost send me over the edge. I had an interview for a job that sounded absolutely freaking amazing .  I was exultant after getting off of the zoom call.  I paced outside for an hour afterward, daydreaming ab

California Camping

Not all trips are perfect. This particular one ended with me crying into a mug of stale coffee at iHop at 4 in the morning and began with my husband waking me up in a chokehold in the middle of a night terror.  So yeah. Not a very instagrammable trip.

Touring Jamaica

I AM SO GRATEFUL THAT I GOT TO EXPLORE AND BOND WITH TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ALIKE IN BEAUTIFUL JAMAICA. I caught the travel bug when I was 10, and my cousin lightly said, “Maybe Beth can nanny for us while we visit the fam in England”. I spent the next few weeks pacing up and down our driveway, day-dreaming about the adventure. (Does anyone else pace while they think?) When it became clear that my cuz hadn’t been serious about the nannying gig (I was, well, 10) my heart was crushed. It ignited a fire inside me that I to this day can’t put out. I had to see the world. I flew into Montego Bay from Dallas on my own.  This was a vacation all in itself because I left both my toddlers with my husband and I got to watch something besides 'Puppy Dog Pals' on the plane.  I opened the window as we landed (and consequently blinded the entire row behind me), and my jaw dropped at the turquoise waters.  When I arrived at the airport, I felt confident going through customs by myself bec
